At Transform Justice, the root of our cause is that empathy and understanding are vital to disrupting the narrative around public safety in America. Through education, events such as The One City Basketball League, training, communication efforts, and impact materials, we aim to teach youths and adults alike that the narrative can be changed by promoting anti-violence.
The core of our work is aimed at teaching youths that they can reach their potential and change the narrative of the past. Having outlets and third spaces, learning to respect one another, and realizing that our differences are not that large is a proven way of reducing violence and prioritizing the well-being and safety of youths.
In addition to our involvement in One City, Transform Justice has launched the 1st Annual Redemption Awards, which will be received by twelve individuals who exemplify a need for recognition of their own redemption, beginning in 2024. These individuals can be nominated for their stories of redemption, serving as role models to our communities and modeling violence-prevention behavior.
We are happy to announce that in the coming months, Transform Justice will be kicking off our Advocacy Campaign Tour not only to showcase and expand the work highlighted in the upcoming book, Interrupting Violence. Our Advocacy Campaign Tour will be a primary avenue to spread our message of interrupting violence in our own communities. It will allow communities to unite behind a message of violence prevention, learn more about why preventing violence is an essential key to building stronger communities, and offer participants ways of implementing these tools into their daily lives.
